It was January 6th. And it was the perfect way to start off my New Year. I don't love the snow, but that day, I didn't mind it. Mainly because there was this perfect, pristine layer of fresh snow on the ground. And for some reason, as I drove to their house, I had the biggest smile on my face. I honestly felt like I was in a movie and all the stars were aligning that day. Part of it was because I was about to be a part of something truly special - a pregnancy announcement for two of my dear friends. But the main reason that my heart was bursting with excitement was because I've known Susie and Aleks for quite some time. I had the pleasure of photographing their engagement session four years ago leaving me shamelessly obsessed with them ever since. And here I was helping them celebrate yet another milestone. What a blessing, indeed! From the moment I stepped inside their cutie home, I was enveloped in a warm embrace of love and joy. Figuratively and literally. It was like my drive to their house was the prequel to the main event, and man did all the positive, happy vibes rule the day! Susie and Aleks greeted me with beaming smiles and open arms. And I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with emotion. I definitely choked back some tears as we stood in their kitchen catching up and gushing over their announcement. These two have a way of making everyone around them feel so cherished and valued, and I was no exception.
I love thinking back to this moment with them because honestly, it's the perfect explanation of what it's like to know Susie and Aleks. They have a bond that is truly infectious – their love radiates from every smile, every touch, and every shared glance. And they let that love overflow onto everyone around them. They have such genuine hearts and kind, calming natures. And honestly, as I reflect back on their session, there wasn't just one single moment that I could focus on because it was all perfect. They melted my heart as they explained how they prepped their kitchen, making sure it was picture perfect in order to tell the world about their tiny blessing. Every detail had been carefully thought out and their excitement was palpable. They surely baked something super sweet that day as they tossed flour around, giggled in the middle of cuddles, and just admired one another with an undeniable sense of love and anticipation. I loved every second of it. I loved the opportunity to witness their love again. I loved watching them dote over one another. I loved how welcomed they made me feel. I loved catching up with them and laughing through all the silly moments. And I loved feeling their love fill the room because if you haven't gathered by now, these two have a lot of love to give. I feel truly blessed to know them. Honored to call them friends. And speechless that I've been able to capture such beautiful parts of their story.
Susie and Aleks, thank you endlessly for letting me be a part of this beautiful life you are creating together. I'm filled with so much joy and gratitude for the memories we made and even more so for the love that you've shown me! Your baby boy is one lucky dude because he is already SO loved. And I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I can't wait to see you two begin this next journey together. It's going to be a beautiful one!
