We stood along the lakeshore. The wind wanted to be the main character that evening. It whipped and whirled around us with so much force. Lake Michigan responded through its powerful waves. Crashing loudly against the rocks with very little rest between each break. Yet through all this, the sun remained as bright as ever. Its glowy light touched us and added a little extra joy as each moment passed. Not that we needed extra joy. Sam and John were all the light and delightfulness we needed that day. Sam stood towards the water with her back to John. He stood facing her with the biggest grin on his face. They both began to giggle uncontrollably. Sam had no idea what was happening behind her, but man oh man, was it one of the most playful moments to date. John got into position. He stepped silently on his tiptoes and had his hands up in an “I’m ready to scare” position. He creeped his way toward her, matching each step with an even bigger smile. And just as we prompted him, he snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. He squeezed her close as he attacked her with kisses. They fell into a fit of laughter-filled cuddles that were swept up into the wind and carried around Northwestern’s campus. It was just the lighthearted happiness that Evanston needed.
We simply adore this moment between Sam and John. If we’re being honest, we just adore everything about these two, but that’s a given when you get to know them. This moment with Sam and John is SO playful. It’s fun. It’s one of those moments where you’re acting silly and you don’t care if others see you. That’s the perfect explanation for S & J. Their relationship is truly so playful. They have endless amounts of fun together. Their laughter only grows louder by the minute and their smiles are truly their best accessories. Sam and John radiate joy like it’s their job to make everyone around them happy. Because let us tell you, that you won’t feel anything but happiness when you spend time with these two. They don’t take any situation too seriously and they just truly enjoy each other’s company. Which is why this sneak attack moment (that’s the prompt we gave John) is such a highlight from their session. John went above and beyond to make Sam laugh, even though she couldn’t see him. He has such a great sense of humor. And under that sense of humor, we know there’s a heart filled to the brim with love for Sam. And she reciprocates said love ten-fold. These two are each other’s best friends. They know each other inside and out. They make each other giggle and laugh endlessly. When they look at each other they can’t help but smile. We’re sure that at this point in time, their faces hurt from how much they smile at each other! And when they look at each other we see the twinkle in their eyes. It’s as if all their worries disappear and they are home. So sweet. So romantic. So pure. These two are just so perfect for each other, and there’s no better explanation than that.
Sam and John, thank you for letting us be a part of your love story. And thank you for braving the high winds to have some fun on Northwestern’s Campus. We loved spending the afternoon with you and are so lucky to watch our friendship grow. We also love how genuine you two are and how easy it was to work with you both. No forced laughter. Never a dull moment. Just love and fun. Seriously nothing better than that! We cannot wait to celebrate you in September and are already counting down the days!
