Omg what a way to kick off our 2021 wedding season! Tara and Joe had a beautiful wedding day in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. With an April wedding, you never know what kind of weather you are going to get, but the sun was shining and made for a perfect day for these two! Enough about the weather though! We were SO excited for this day because Emily has known Tara since high school. Fun fact, Tara actually grew up playing hockey with Emily’s husband, how cool is that?! Hockey is a big part of Tara’s life, so we think it is extra special that her and Joe met on the ice too. It’s not very often that you hear that a couple plays the same sport, so it’s a sweet part of their love story. If we had to put our money on someone, we’d bet on Tara. (;
It’s super impressive to know that Tara and Joe planned their wedding day in just a few short weeks (we definitely took much longer than that to plan our own weddings, so we can’t imagine!), especially because they are expecting their first baby soon. Cue all the heart eyes and waterworks from us, because two of our favorite things are weddings and babies! But seriously, everything about their day was beautiful from Tara’s gorgeous dress with lace appliques to the pretty pink and white floral arrangements. We loved it all! Beyond the decorations, we were in awe of how much love there was for Tara and Joe. There were lots of laughs, tears, and hugs shared all day long and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t smiling from ear to ear the whole time.
This was especially true of their wedding party! The party was made up of Tara and Joe’s childhood friends and family. You could easily tell how much fun they all have together because there was no hesitation to be silly or goof off with one another. At the same time, you could easily see that they all care about each other so much! And we feel like we lucked out during these portraits you see by the lake. What a beautiful location! This was a special spot requested by Tara and Joe because this is where he popped the question and they agreed to forever with each other. They spend a lot of time on the lake in the summers because they have their own dock with a boat (which we incorporated too!).
If you haven’t realized it yet, we look back on this day as one of the sweetest and most fun days (which we may be biased, but we are so lucky to be a part of days like these). One of the sweetest parts of their day was that Tara and Joe opted out of having a first look, so Tara shared a first look with her dad instead. They were both so emotional during this moment, and seeing BOTH of them tear up made our eyes water too. Tara and her dad have such a beautiful bond! We also can’t forget about the way they exited their ceremony. It was such a joyful moment watching all of their loved ones blow bubbles in their direction as they made their way out. Be sure to look for Tara’s dad in the background of those portraits because his smile is contagious! They have a lot of love for each other, but they are also playful and funny. Our whole experience with them was delightful because they are such easy going souls.
